Tampa Attracting Higher Paying Jobs

The Greater Tampa Chamber’s Committee of 100 reports that although the number of jobs created in 2006 is down from 2005, the average salary for new jobs is up. The average salary for new jobs created in 2006 was $43,469, which is up from $38,796 in 2005.
For a long time Tampa was considered to be primarily to be a call center region, attracting back-office operations for companies such as Progressive Insurance, Capital One, Citigroup, and Disney. But Tampa is quickly shedding that image and attracting high paying jobs from the Biotech, pharmaceutical, and service sectors.
