No more hurricanes?!?! Seriously??? No, not exactly... however recent studies by scientists at the University of Miami are showing that global warming is having a serious effect on the creation and duration of hurricanes in the U.S. In fact, because of a phenomenon known as "wind shear", which is the strengthening of crosswinds due to the warming waters in the ocean, scientists are realizing that hurricanes are not necessarily any more frequent now than they were in the past. Actually, they may be forming at lower rates and less are making it to landfall. So does this mean that the rise in homeowner's insurance due to the possibility of hurricanes is really not fair?
